The short versionAnyBeat collects pseudonymous, device-linked usage and performance analytics to understand which features get used and to find bugs. This includes privacy-masked interaction replay through Microsoft Clarity and PostHog. PostHog replay uses masked screenshots of the rendered app. The app does not show ads, does not track you across other apps or websites, and has no account or sign-in. Your custom sound recordings and saved-set names never leave your device. A replay can show the rhythm blocks visible on screen, but not your recorded audio. You can turn analytics off completely in Settings. If you ask to be notified when the app launches, we keep the email address you provide only to send that launch announcement.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the AnyBeat mobile application and the anybeat.app website. AnyBeat is the product name. The application provider and data controller is the developer identified as the Seller on AnyBeat’s Apple App Store product page. We use “we” and “us” below. Questions go to hello@anybeat.app.

Contact and feedback

When you use our Contact form in the app or on the website, Tally processes the email address and feedback you choose to send. We use these details to respond to your message and improve AnyBeat. Sending feedback does not subscribe you to marketing emails. Please avoid including sensitive information in your message.

Analytics we collect

To decide what to build and fix, the app records pseudonymous usage and performance data through four analytics providers: Mixpanel, PostHog, Firebase Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. This data is linked to a random app-install or device identifier, not to an account, name or email address. It is therefore device-linked rather than truly anonymous. Apple lists the same categories on the app’s App Store privacy label:

Product interaction.Which screens you open and which features you use, as named events such as “playback started”, “preset applied” or “setting changed”, together with non-identifying details like a pattern’s beat count or the chosen tempo.
A device identifier. A random identifier generated by the analytics tools so repeat sessions from the same install can be counted as one device. It is not your name, email or Apple ID, and the advertising identifier (IDFA) is never used.
Approximate location. A coarse, country or region level location that the analytics services derive from your IP address on their servers. The app does not request or use GPS, and never collects precise location.
Performance and diagnostic data. Timing and error information used to find crashes and slow paths, such as an operation name and an error type.
Privacy-masked interaction replay and screen content. Microsoft Clarity records behavioral signals such as screens visited, taps, session duration, device type and operating-system version. It can reconstruct sessions and produce tap heatmaps. PostHog records masked screenshots of the rendered app so a replay can show the app layout and the rhythm blocks visible on screen. Text inputs, images, saved-set names, custom sound screens and rhythm-chart titles are masked. Recorded audio is never included.

Event details are truncated before they are sent, and some very high-frequency events are dropped rather than recorded. Mixpanel data is sent to a European endpoint; PostHog and Clarity are hosted in the United States. Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google under its applicable terms. These providers process the data for us under their own privacy terms: Mixpanel Privacy Policy, PostHog Privacy Notice, Google Privacy Policy, and Microsoft Privacy Statement.

How long analytics is kept

We keep Mixpanel, PostHog and Firebase Analytics event data only for as long as it is reasonably useful for comparing releases, understanding feature adoption and investigating reliability problems. Their current project settings and processor policies control the precise storage period, and data is deleted or aggregated when it is no longer needed for those purposes.

Replay retention is controlled by the current PostHog and Microsoft Clarity project settings and processor policies. Microsoft Clarity normally retains replay data for 30 days. A Clarity recording that is favorited or selected as a sample, and aggregated interaction data such as heatmaps, may be retained for up to nine months. Turning analytics off stops future collection; it does not automatically erase data that has already been processed.

What we do not do

No advertising. The app shows no ads and contains no advertising SDK.
No cross-app tracking.Nothing you do is linked to your activity in other companies’ apps or websites, so the app does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt and collects no data for tracking as Apple defines it.
No selling of data. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
No accounts. There is no sign-in, so the app never asks for a name, email address or password. The website launch form is optional and separate.

What never leaves your device

Some things are intentionally kept out of analytics entirely, and stay only in the app’s private storage on your device:

Your custom sound recordings. The audio you record is saved on the device and is never uploaded. Analytics may record only that a recording took place, not the sound itself.
Your saved-set names. Names you type are never sent. Saved-set events carry only counts, such as how many sets you have and how many beats a pattern has.
Your typed text and pattern data. Analytics events do not receive the sequence of beat types you create or any text you type. Events may receive summary attributes such as tempo, beat count, accent and muted counts, whether Rhythm Training is enabled, the selected training mode and whether a built-in or custom sound is in use. A PostHog replay can show the visible arrangement of rhythm blocks as screen content; text inputs and explicitly private views are masked.

Your control, and turning analytics off

Analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time. Open Settings in the app and turn off Share Usage Analytics. When you do, all four providers are instructed to stop collecting, and no further usage or performance data is sent. Turning it off does not disable any feature of the app.

Microphone access

AnyBeat asks for microphone permission for one purpose: recording your own click sounds when you create a custom sound profile. Recording happens only while you are on the recording screen and have pressed record.

Recordings are written to the app’s private storage on your device.
The recorded audio is never uploaded, transmitted or shared automatically.
There is no background or passive listening at any time.
You can decline microphone access and use every other feature normally.
You can delete a recorded profile at any time from within the app.

What is stored on your device

The app saves the following locally, in its own private storage area, so it works the way you left it:

Your beat patterns, tempos, phrase groupings and saved sets.
Your on-device practice sessions, daily minutes, loops and streaks.
Preferences such as volume, grid zoom, haptics, screen-awake and display options.
Any custom sound profiles you record, stored as audio files.
Your analytics on/off choice.

Deleting the app removes all of it. We have no copy of this on-device data and cannot recover it for you.

If you use AnyBeat Pro's export feature, the app renders the number of complete pattern loops you choose to an audio file and hands it to the iOS share sheet. What happens next is governed by whichever app or service you choose to send it to. We are not involved in that transfer and receive nothing from it.

Purchases

AnyBeatis free to download. AnyBeat Pro is available as an optional weekly subscription or one-time lifetime in-app purchase. Apple handles the transaction, payment details and receipt. We never see your payment information, billing address or Apple ID, and Apple provides us only with transaction status and aggregate sales information needed to unlock and measure Pro. Apple’s handling of your data is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.

This website

The anybeat.app website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts, and the interactive metronome on it runs entirely in your browser. If you submit the optional launch form, your email address is sent to Resend, our email delivery provider, and placed in the AnyBeat launch segment. We use it for the launch announcement you requested, include an unsubscribe link in that message, and do not sell or use it for unrelated marketing. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for a limited period for security, abuse prevention and operational purposes. The device-linked analytics described above apply to the app, not to this website.

Children

AnyBeatis a general-audience music-practice tool and is not directed to children under 18. It has no accounts and does not knowingly collect a child’s direct contact information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has supplied personal information to us, contact hello@anybeat.app so we can investigate.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights over personal data. Because the app uses no account and no directly identifying information, we may not be able to connect a person who emails us with a particular analytics identifier. You can stop all future collection at any time using the Settings toggle described above. If you believe we hold information about you and want to ask about access or deletion, write to hello@anybeat.app. We will explain what can be located and honor applicable rights where technically and legally possible. Some processors, including Clarity, may not support deletion of one pseudonymous visitor without deleting a larger project dataset. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the effective date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
